A Small Section of the World Trailer HD
I stumbled upon This very inspiring documentary, A Small Section of the World , on Netflix. I love to see coffee farms grow and develop like this one did.
Calling All Coffee Lovers
A little about myself. I have always been drawn to coffee. The first time I drank coffee was the stuff out of a can at my grandparents’ house. I wasn’t a big fan, but I didn’t give up looking. I knew there was something about this drink I was going to love.
I kept trying different kinds until I was in high school and went to an actual coffee house. It was there that I had my first real cappuccino made by a barista. That was it… I was in love with this drink. I knew I had to work there. I applied three times and they finally gave me the job.
Speed ahead several years and many coffee drinks later… I found the hobby of home roasting. I have been doing it now for 10 years and I am constantly on the search for new things to learn about coffee. It has become a little more than a hobby now. It is kind of a necessity. I love that I can roast up coffee that is better than most you would buy. Yes, better than Starbucks.
So, here I am blogging about it because I would love to connect with other coffee lovers out there. I hope you will share some of your favorite beans, coffee roasters and brew methods with me. I would love to hear them!
My home roaster: Turbo Crazy (I will have a post later that will show you how to do this)
Favorite places to buy green coffee beans-
- Sweet Maria's – They supply great quality green coffee and have a large selection. Their website is also very helpful in getting roasting and brewing equipment.
- Green Coffee Buying Club – This is a great place to mingle with other coffee roasters, learn from each other and buy some really great and really reasonably priced green coffee.
The book I am reading above, The Coffee Roaster's Companion by Scott Rao, is a very detailed book on the “in’s and out’s” of roasting. It has everything from bean structure to cupping and roasting. This is a great book for those who are hoping to roast professionally someday. *Ahem* I know there are some like me out there.

For the Love of Coffee and People
Hi coffee friends! I am on a mission to find great coffee and meet great people. I will be searching for great coffee stories and as much knowledge as I can get my hands on about coffee and the people around it. Thanks for joining me!
